The goal is to develop the characteristics of VoIP technology, advantages and comparisons with traditional PSTN telephony system. My work focuses on Quality of service of the VoIP technology, equipment, different forms and possibilities, from the beginning till the modern technologies. Also will be discussed a practical example of Asterisk based IP PBX server – Elastix, using SIP protocol. I’ll Describe the capabilities of the server and its working principles.
