Stratigraphy of the Upper Jurassic-Cretaceous deposits of Racha-Lechkhumi syncline

The given Bachelor’s thesis concerns to “Stratigraphy of the Upper Jurassic-Cretaceous deposits of Racha-Lechkhumi syncline”. After a brief geomorphologic and hydrographic characterization the features of the geotectonic position and structure of the given region are considered. The lytho- and biostratigraphic data of the Upper Jurassic-Cretaceous deposits of Racha-Lechkhumi syncline are considered. Descriptions of the principal sections of Upper Jurassic, Lower Cretaceous and Upper Cretaceous sections are given. In many cases their biostratigraphic analyses are done in precision of Zone or Substage. Particular attention has been attached to the transgressive-regressive sedimentary sycles (as in Jurassic, as in Creatceous) and their chronostratigraphic analyses. In the final part, on the basis of biostratigraphical data of the Upper Jurassic-Cretaceous deposits, the problems of facial variation in time and space, as well as the whole geological history within the studied territory are discussed.
